PS5 can now be picked up for less than 64GB of DDR5 RAM as the price for common components has reached an all-time high, even when you factor in the latest Black Friday sales. What’s more, this situation is reportedly set to continue into 2026.
As reported by Tomshardware, a 64GB kit of G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo 6000 MT/s RAM retails for $599 in the Black Friday sale on Newegg, which factors in a 40% discount and an additional 20% off the price using the BFE2458 code. This is only $50 less than Sony’s high-end PS5 Pro, and considerably more expensive than the PS5 Digital-Only Edition and the PS5 Standard Edition, which retail for $399 and $449, respectively .

With the rise of component prices now at an all-time high, it does have implications about the cost of the PS6, which is heavily rumoured to be entering manufacturing in mid-2027. It has been suggested that Sony’s next-generation system will retail for half the cost of the new Xbox, with an insider recently stating that PS6 could retail for around $600. We already know that the system’s technology is set to be defined by a new partnership between Sony and AMD, known as Project Amethyst.
A recent video posted by Sony featuring Mark Cerny and AMD’s Jack Huynh revealed that the format holder is set to incorporate a host of next-generation features from AMD into “a future console in a few years time,” including Radiance Cores, Universal Compression, and rendering features — which is obviously the PS6 in all but name.
