Ever since the release of the latest season, Fortnite keeps crashing in Season 5. Alongside problems with game chat, there’s been more frequent reports of Fortnite crashing mid-game.
The crashes appear to be randomly at no particular point, and no error message is displayed. Some reports state that Fortnite freezes before crashing. The Epic Games forums are full of complaints.
The bulk of crash reports come from PC owners with some suggesting it may be related if you’re running an AMD card. However, there are reports that users running others cards such as GeForce are also having problems.
The issue has only been happening since Season 5.
If Fortnite keeps crashing in Season 5 for you, it appears that there isn’t yet a fix. The most annoying thing for some players is that they’ve having to completely shut down the game and restart.
One player writes:
I can open the launcher fine, but when I click launch it shows the initial screen with the anticheat thing and then it tries to go fullscreen, but all I see is black, and then it crashes. I get the send the report thing every time and sometimes it says that the display drivers has stopped working and recovered.
Right now, it appears that Epic Games have not released a statement on the Fortnite crashing issues. However, as complaints are escalating we’d expect them to sit up and take notice and hopefully issue a fix soon. We’d suggest you also head over to the main forums so that Epic hears all the problems.
Despite the latest crashes in Season 5, Fortnite’s player count continues to rise. With regular updates and events, including the recently leaked Day of Hoe and the Week 2 Challenges, there’s plenty to enjoy.
There’s even rumors that a Fortnite TV show may be in the works.
