Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 will not feature any additional content over the original PlayStation 3 releases.
Speaking with Dengeki Online (translated by Google, via PSLS), Nomura-san made it clear that there are no plans to throw some PS4-exclusive extras into the mix. Similarly, there won’t be any changes to the packaging art for the collections, although again, don’t expect any major changes compared to the PS3 originals.
“The contents are the same as the two HD remaster in the past. Because six games are recorded on one game disc of PS4, it is easier to play,” he said.
“I do not think so. Because three illustrations are connected to KH 1.5, KH 2.5, KH 2.8 packages, meaning will not connect if you draw newly. Those who think, ‘What?’, please arrange three illustrations and see the poses and background of Sora.”
The PS4 editions of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 will feature enhanced visuals and performance compared to the original releases, including a buttery-smooth 60fps gameplay experience. The whole set will set you back $49.99 when it launches in March 2017.
Kingdom Hearts 3 release date still up in the air
Outside of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 for PS4, gamers also have the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue to look forward to, which is scheduled to ship for Sony’s current-generation console in the U.S. and Europe on January 24, 2017. This release offers a high-definition revamp of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, plus the complementary Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage and Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover.
With the series celebrating its 15th anniversary this year however, all eyes are on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS4 and Xbox One, which has been in the works for some time now. Originally announced at E3 2013, we’ve seen little on the game to date and haven’t been given much indication of when we can expect the game to turn up.
