Konami has announced it is looking to take on board new staff to help create the next chapter in the Metal Gear franchise.
Writing on its careers page, the Japanese software giant commented, “We are now recruiting a wide range of highly-skilled game development professionals who wish to work with us on the creation of NEW METAL GEAR.” This isn’t the first time the company has mentioned a new Metal Gear title, having previously said that it intends to continue the series despite Hideo Kojima’s departure.
No further details on the new game were mentioned, although Konami is looking for individuals with the following experience to join its team:
- Experience in high-end game development, planning, etc.
- Boundless imagination, and the capacity for exciting new ideas
- A strong passion toward game creation
- The communication skills to effectively communicate your ideas
Speaking of Kojima-san, Konami’s announcement comes just 24 hours after the Metal Gear creator confirmed details on his new project at the newly-established Kojima Productions, which will be a console exclusive to PlayStation 4. The famed developer had been involved in highly publicised falling out with his bosses at Konami during the development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which also resulted in the cancelation of Silent Hills.
Sony confirmed yesterday that Kojima-san’s new game won’t be related to Metal Gear or Silent Hills, which is not surprising considering Konami still holds the rights to those franchises. However, the game will also hit PC at some point after its initial PS4 launch. Hopefully Kojima-san will be able to collaborate with Guillermo del Toro again at some point in the future.
