Throughout Ni no Kuni 2 there are many puzzles to overcome, but one of the first you'll face is the Kingmaker's Trials. In this three-stage puzzle which ends with a boss battle against Thogg, you'll need to have your wits about you.

The Trial of Knowledge in Ni no Kuni 2 comprises of board game puzzles. It requires moving pieces around a board, and is essentially a memory test. Once you've picked up the poem and read the first passage you'll be ready to step one of the puzzle.
Ni No Kuni 2 Kingmaker's Trials - First puzzle
Before you start, remember: you cannot step on the same platform more than once. As the poem told you, the object of this puzzle is to activate the Boy, the magic wand and then the fairy in that order.
- Move forward two squares
- Move left three squares
- Go up two squares
- Move right two squares
- Go up three squares
- Move right five squares
- Go left one square
- Move down one square
- Go up to the left one square
- Go left two squares
- Go down one square
- Go right one square
- Go down two squares
- Go right three squares
- Go up one square
- Go left one square
Finally, keep heading upwards to the top of the board and you'll receive some loot for your efforts. Time for part two!
Ni No Kuni 2 Kingmaker's Trials - Second puzzle
It's the same concept as the first puzzles, only this time you need activate the statues in this order: Harpist, Pistolier, Wizard, Boy, and Monster. Now:
- Move forward one square

- Go left four squares
- Move up one square

- Move up three squares
- Go left one square
- Move up one square
- Go left one square
- Move up one square
- Go right two squares
- Move down two squares
- Go right one square
- Move up two squares

- Twist the Wheel x2
- Move down three squares
- Go left four squares

We're onto the third and final piece of the puzzle. The order is: Wizard, Pistolier, Harpist, Soldier, Fairy, Dragon, Boy. When you reach the wizard you'll be able to destroy his tower!
