In an interview with Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, Wired has revealed that according to Hulst, PlayStation Studios has more than 25 titles in development for PS5 with almost half of them being new IP.

The article highlights that “according to Hermen Hulst, a Guerrilla co-founder whom Jim Ryan tapped to lead PlayStation Studios in 2019, the group has more than 25 titles in development for the PS5—nearly half of which are entirely new IP.”

Hulst then goes on to say that “there’s an incredible amount of variety originating from different regions” with the games being “big, small, [and of] different genres”.

This number likely incorporated both titles developed by Sony’s internal first-party developers and partnerships roller under the PlayStation Studios banner, such as the recently released Returnal and Destruction AllStars. Do note that this doesn’t include third-party exclusives also coming to PC, like Deathloop and Forspoken.

As for projects coming up, we already know that Sony Santa Monica is working on a second title, alongside the next God of War. A remake of The Last of Us is floating about somewhere and Bend Studio has moved onto a new project. But as for those partnerships, we don’t yet know what is coming down the pipeline other than Haven’s game and Firewalk’s multiplayer experience.
