Industry tipster ZhugeEX has claimed that Sony Interactive Entertainment will host another PlayStation event at the end of September. That’s in addition to the previously-confirmed The Last of Us Part 2 media showcase, which also takes place this month and will hopefully shed light on the game’s much-anticipated release date.
Sony Event Rumoured For This Month – Is It State Of Play?
The insider didn’t reveal any concrete details, simply stating that The Last of Us Part 2’s event “isn’t the only Sony event that week,” with the most obvious theory being that Sony is hosting a new State of Play event.
Still, it’s interesting timing considering the Tokyo Game Show 2019 kicks off this week, so it’ll be a pretty crammed month in terms of (potential) reveals and new footage of Sony’s upcoming slate. Regardless, a The Last of Us: Part 2 release date is definitely long overdue.
While we can only speculate as to what Sony has up its sleeves, ZhugeEX has a good track record when it comes to outing this sort of thing, so fingers crossed he’s on the money again.
The Last of Us: Part 2 is currently in development at Naughty Dog exclusively for the PS4. The game takes place five years after the events of the original game, and sees players controlling Ellie, who is now 19-years-old.
Sony’s next-generation console will support a range of features, including backwards compatibility with PS4 games, ray-tracing, 8K, a disc drive and support for digital software, and a dedicated SSD for reduced loading times.
