Star Wars Battlefront update 1.03 released, adds support for Battle of Jakku DLC

Star Wars Battlefront has been updated to version 1.03 via a new patch today, allowing DICE to prepare its sci-fi shooter for the arrival of the Battle of Jakku DLC, as well as offering some various bug fixes.

The update is available to download for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One and clocks in at just under 300MB, so it shouldn’t take too long to grab. The Battle of Jakku is out today for those who pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront, although if you didn’t you’ll have to wait until December 8 to grab the content.

For those unaware, the Battle of Jakku takes place after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and approximately 28 years before Star Wars: The Forec Unleashed, which hits cinemas later this month. The battle proved a crucial victory for the Rebel Alliance, and you’ll get to see the location in The Force Awakens, with the DLC offering a hands-on glimpse at what happened to Jakku prior to the new film. Up to 40 players will be able to participate in the Battle of Jakku’s new game mode, ‘Turning Point.’

Star Wars Battlefront is out now for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game will be supported by a $49.99 Season Pass, which has caused some controversy among fans regarding the price and quality of content on offer. The first batch of major DLC for the game will arrive in early 2016. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Star Wars Battlefront has proven a considerable success, topping the U.K. All Format Chart and becoming the year’s fourth biggest release so far. Furthermore, on the weekend following its release, the PS4 version of the sci-fi shooter proved more than twice as popular than its Xbox One and PC counterpart.

While the game has only just come out, publisher EA has suggested that it will make more entries in the Battlefront series, as well as producing new games based on the Star Wars franchise thanks to its deal with Disney. Read our full review of Star Wars Battlefront on PS4.
