Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry 6 Will No Longer Receive Any New Updates

Far Cry 6 is no longer being supported by new updates, Ubisoft has revealed on the series’ official Twitter account.

Thanks to the millions of players who joined the fight. Your adventures can continue in Yara without interruption of online services. However, the dev team will no longer be making updates to Far Cry 6. We appreciate your passion, creativity and love of Chorizo, even Anton is proud.

To be fair this is probably not too surprising, as rumours are gathering pace that Ubisoft is busy working on not only Far Cry 7, but a separate multiplayer-focussed effort too. Ubisoft hasn’t announced anything official yet on both projects, but next core Far Cry game is supposedly going to utilise the Snowdrop Engine and will be released at some point in 2025.

Beyond that, the Far Cry multiplayer project is going to be an extraction-based shooter and is currently known by the codename Project Maverick. The game is said to take place in the Alaskan wilderness and will include permadeath and a Hideout, which will allow you to keep any items you have stored after you die.

Far Cry 6 was released in October 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. You can read our full verdict on the game here.
