The developer behind Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed that the upcoming sci-fi opus will feature three different playable prologue chapters, depending on what choices you make in regards to your character’s origins story. CD Projekt RED calls these Lifepaths, and they determine whether you’ll become a Nomad, Corp, or Street Kit.
Cyberpunk 2077 Prologue Chapters Detailed
Speaking during a chat with VG247, Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, revealed that your starting location and background are strongly connected to whatever choice you make in regards to your Lifepath.
“The player in Cyberpunk 2077 can create a custom character that has one of three origin stories, that we call lifepaths: you can be Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid. Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story. Anything more I say can reveal too much from the story, so I will leave it like this.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is pencilled in for an April 16, 2020 release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, although there’s a chance it may also come to the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett down the line. CD Projekt RED is also working on additional projects set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, so a return to The Witcher franchise is pretty much off the table at this point.
Speaking of The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature romance options like its CD Projekt RED stablemate, only there will be more opportunities for characters to explore. The game’s install size is also far greater than that of The Witcher : Wild Hunt.
One thing that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t feature however is a morality system, although if fans have their way, we’ll be getting a ‘You’re Breathtaking‘ Trophy based on Keanu Reeves’ appearance during Microsoft’s E3 2019 presser.
Finally, while there is no multiplayer at launch, CD Projekt RED has not ruled out the possibility of adding online functionality to Cyberpunk 2077 at a later date.
