Behemoth Dauntless Guide PlayStation 4 PS4

Dauntless Behemoth Guide – Lesser Gnasher

Dauntless Behemoth Guide – Lesser Gnasher is the first Behemoth you will face in Dauntless. Designed to be more of a tutorial into the game rather than a truly challenging battle, Lesser Gnasher should not give you too many issues. This battle will slowly introduce you into the combat systems and mechanics of Dauntless.

Gnasher is described as having both reptilian and mammalian characteristics. It has powerful teeth that are as sharp as blades and a large flat tail that will squash any unprepared monster slayer.

Moveset and Tactics

Gnasher does not have many moves to be aware of and he attacks mostly to the front. Attacking him from the sides is a good tactic and using a well-timed evade for most of his attacks will serve you well. His danger areas are either end of his body, his wide tail and his sharp teeth should be avoided where possible.

Somersault Body Slam: If you are attacking from the side you will have no issues with this move and if you’re not then a well-timed evade will negate it. After the attack, Gnasher rolls onto his side giving you plenty of time to get some attacks in and unleash some longer combo’s. Beware though he does somersault quite far so you may need to sheath your weapon, run and reposition to get the optimal amount of damage in.

Forward Bite: An easy one to avoid. It’s heavily telegraphed as Gnasher pulls his head back before the attack making it easy to read and avoid. Once again, just stay to his side or even better evade to the left or right and unleash some attacks and get some free damage.

Stomp: Gnasher also has a tell for this move too, when he starts to raise his leg just reposition yourself or evade out of the way. This move does give you plenty of time for free attacks, just make sure your not next to Gnasher’s foot when it hits the deck and you will be fine.

Hop: This move is handled in the same way as the stomp, just attack until you see him jump in the air then either reposition yourself or evade out of the way. There are plenty of opportunities to attack either side of the point where he hits the ground.

Air Sniff: Gnasher just sniffs the air and does not attack. This does not happen very often but does give you plenty of time to do some serious damage. This is the time to unleash your most powerful combo’s and get some serious damage in.

Hop: This move is handled in the same way as the stomp, just attack until you see him jump in the air then either reposition yourself or evade out of the way. There are plenty of opportunities to attack either side of the point where he hits the ground.
