Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase has revealed he’d be up for remaking Final Fantasy V at some point, although that’s not to say it’ll ever happen.
Kitase-San On Final Fantasy V Remake
Speaking with Gamereactor, Kitase-san was quizzed on what Final Fantasy game he’d like to remake, providing he had the time and resources.
(Laughs) Ok, so first of all, you have to promise you’re not going to write an article saying Square Enix is remaking Final Fantasy something, something… It’s just a purely personal opinion, just so you understand that.
With that caveat in place, the first Final Fantasy that I worked on myself was Final Fantasy V, that hasn’t been remade with the more realistic kind of approach yet, so I think it might be quite interesting to do a FF5 remake someday.
For now, fans have Final Fantasy 7 Remake to tuck into, which launches for the PlayStation 4 on April 10. The game will be available exclusively for Sony’s console for 12 months, after which point it will presumably come to other formats.

Square Enix has revealed some new details on the game this week, including the fact Red XIII won’t be a playable party member in the game. The studio also said that Final Fantasy 7 Remake wasn’t going to feature any ATB mechanics at one point.
In case you haven’t been keeping up, the game covers the Midgar portion of the original game, but it’s been expanded considerably to accommodate two Blu-ray discs. You can also expect to see more on the characters of Biggs, Wedge, and Jesse this time around.
Square Enix hasn’t specified how many parts the entire Final Fantasy 7 Remake will encompass, but it has said that development of those extra episodes will be more efficient.
