Developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 release date is still on track for September despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This is the second time that the studio has assured fans that the highly anticipated sci-fi title is still targeting its September window, after the game was pushed back from its original April launch day. And, while staff are now working remotely due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Cyberpunk 2077’s date remains unchanged.
Adam Kicinski, joint-CEO of CD Projekt RED, posted the following on the company’s official website:
There is no shortage of motivation and we also possess all the tools needed to facilitate remote work. Our plans haven’t changed – we’re steaming towards the September release of Cyberpunk.
Previously, it was reported that the game was originally pushed back due to its poor performance on current-generation hardware. However, CD Projekt RED was quick to respond, insisting there was no ‘hidden agenda‘ behind the delay.
The studio also shared some more details about Cyberpunk 2077’s lush open-world, revealing players will be able to tuck into more than 75 unique story-based side quests.
Elsewhere, the developer has heavily indicated that it will launch the game on next-generation systems, but remains focussed on PS4 and Xbox One for now. While the game is primarily a single-player affair, CDRP is working on a dedicated multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released after 2021.
