PS5 Release Still On Track For Holiday 2020

Despite the fact that it looks like that we might be looking at delays for some PS4 exclusive titles owing to the Coronavirus outbreak, Sony has reaffirmed that its next-generation PlayStation 5 console is still set to arrive sometime during holiday season 2020 as previously expected.

Extracted from business outlet Bloomberg, the online publication said that it had been in contact with a Sony spokesperson and stated the following:

“A Sony spokeswoman said it doesn’t see any notable impact on the launch of its next-generation game console PlayStation 5 planned at the end of this year.”

With China seemingly beginning to turn the corner in terms of overcoming the virus, it would seem the manufacturing will start up at some point during the next month – a fact that falls into line with previous expectations regarding manufacturing timelines for Sony’s next-gen console.

In case you missed it, Sony released the full technical specification for the PlayStation 5 earlier in the month, providing crucial detail on the CPU, GPU, system memory and SSD solution contained within the console.

Though no details regarding games or the physical appearance of the console were released, it only seems like a matter of time until Sony decide to open the PS5 floodgates once more.
