Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has revealed that Captain Marvel does exist in the game’s universe, even if the character hasn’t actually made an appearance yet. At this point, it’s unknown if Captain Marvel will turn up in the game (DLC wouldn’t be out of the question, surely?), but at least we now know there’s a possibility.
Marvel’s Avengers Dev Hints At Captain Marvel
We already know that Ms. Marvel is in the game, and she just so happens to be a huge fan of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Not only that, but Captain Marvel is her favourite. How could she be a fan of someone who doesn’t exist? Exactly.
Here’s what Hannah McLeod, the game’s narrative designer, had to say during a chinwag with ComicBook.com:
We’ll put it to you this way, Kamala can’t be a fan of someone who didn’t exist. She still knows everything there is to know about the Avengers and yes, Captain Marvel is still her favorite. That is something she and our players have in common. They love these heroes.
Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. Be sure to take a look at each of the main characters in action via the following links: Black Widow, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor.
The game’s story kicks off as the titular heroes are unveiling some new tech in San Francisco. Things soon go south, however, when a devastating event levels most of the city and Captain America is reported killed in action. Ouch.
While the main campaign in Marvel’s Avengers will be a single-player affair, Crystal Dynamics is offering players the chance to engage in co-op play for various side activities. However, these elements won’t be forced on players; you can enjoy Avengers without ever going online.
