No Man’s Sky Frigates and Freighters
Basically, Frigate is a kind of starship in No Man’s Sky on PS4. They are massive and ultra-powerful ships that are bigger than a regular starship. However, frigates are smaller than freighters which can in turn hold many frigates. They are commonly found around NPC freighter ships. With the NEXT No Man Sky’s update, you can now own up to 50 frigates commanding a freighter. Frigates bolster your fleet which can then be sent to missions set on another star system.
You can cosmetically customize your frigates according to your style. You can also upgrade them for better performance too.
How to get No Man’s Sky Frigates

- First set out and explore the galaxy using your Freighter.
- Then look around until you see Frigate icons. Green icons men that a frigate is available.
- Next, fly near the frigate and communicate with its captain via the quick access menu and intercom.
- Finally, buy the frigate.
Here’s a quick tip in getting more frigates quickly, warp into different star systems and purchase available frigates you’ll encounter.
Frigates Mission and No Man’s Sky Fleet Command Room
You can control your frigates from the No Man’s Sky Fleet command room. You can send maximum of 5 frigates in a single mission. Specific frigate attributes can support other frigates in the fleet, making missions much easier and less expensive.
Another No Man Sky’s PS4 trick: match your frigates’ average rating star ratings with the mission’s difficulty star rating. Frigates with a 3-star rating may not survive a 5-star mission no matter how many frigates you send. So as a rule, it should be equal or higher than mission’s difficulty.
