Is Anno 1800 Coming To PS4?

Is Anno 1800 coming to PS4? The real-time strategy title is currently available free via Uplay on the PC, but folk are starting to wonder if there’s a chance the game may come to Sony’s current-generation console. Could an Anno 1800 PS4 release be on the cards? We look at the possibility of the game making the jump to consoles.

Anno has traditionally been a PC franchise, and it’s not looking too likely at this point that we’ll see it on the PS4. So far, developer Blue Byte has not confirmed anything on a possible Anno 1800 PS4 release; in fact, it’s pretty much indicated it won’t happen at all. Speaking in a thread on Reddit, a member of the team revealed that PC is the only format on the cards right now.

We are committed to bring an excellent PC experience and have currently no plans to port Anno to other systems. With the mouse and keyboard support for Xbox, keep in mind that your game cannot just ignore gamepad controls. For us as developers, it means we need to ensure a completely working gamepad user experience for all players and that is also the control scheme most reviews will base their rating on.

That was five months ago, so things may have changed, but it’s unlikely at this point.

What Is Anno 1800?

Anna 1800 is the seventh instalment in the city building simulation franchise, and returns to a historical backdrop following the futuristic efforts, Anno 2070 and Anno 2205. The game is set during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, and introduces a number of new features, including tourism, blueprinting, as well as players having to deal with the effects of industrialisation on island habitants.

The game includes a number of modes, including a story campaign, sandbox mode, and a dedicated multiplayer offering. The new blueprint mechanic helps players by allowing them to plan out their city with silhouetted blueprint buildings, meaning you won’t need spend unnecessary resources by constructing them right away. Instead, you can place the blueprint building on the city map to construct at a later date.

Anna 1800 was a massive success upon its April 2019 launch, selling four times as many copies in its first week as the previous title. Still, right now, an Anno 1800 PS4 release is not on the cards, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop if we hear anything.
